It’s easy to miss the restaurant because neither the place or its sign are very big. It’s our favourite restaurant. Simple home fare using high quality ingredients. Fish or grilled meat. Tellines as a starter. Small shellfish served in a garlic flavoured sauce. Jean-Paul and his wife Florence are adorable and we’d love to have them as neighbours, or better still, as friends. The place is certainly not cheap but we’re happy to turn a blind eye because we love coming here so much. Make a note of their opening times though: the restaurant is only open from Thursday to Monday evenings. We always book because it only has a few tables. Ideally we would combine a visit here with an early evening walk in the Camargue. Along the Etang de Vaccarès. If you have a detailed Michelin map, there is a lighthouse on the lower part of the Etang. In this natural wildlife reserve there are several colonies of flamingos and other waterfowl. At dusk the scenery is stunning. Then on your way back, stop for a meal at La Telline. But please be careful on the road! It’s not unusual to have pheasants or an entire family of wild boar suddenly looming up in your headlights.
